No worries Lars - I tried 4x day - must be something here not playing nice - the weird part is I only have rex4 - rex soft clouds - ftx global - ftx vector - ftx euro lc loaded and only your airport -I am on p3d 2.5 but ddi not load that latest hotfix released few days ago and intend to wait for a major update

You should use 4x since at some point effects and animations are being suppressed when the rate is too high.
So did you test at day as well? Nothing?

I don't believe it since it's working for me but I guess I will have to put the beta team to the task then!
Best regards,
Lars

Did you test at daytime as well? At night it is barely visible, just like in real life.
Remember, you can speed up your simulator to 4x in order to test the effect so
you don't have to wait for 20 minutes.

Lars

Hi Rich,

I have new files for you to try! Hope it works this time.

Drop the folders into your Prepar3D v2.5 main directory and overwrite the existing files.
Best regards,
Lars

Your effects folder looks fine, thank you! The effects have been replaced properly, the funny thing is that the exact
same effect files work for me in Prepar3D v2.5 which you also have installed.
Does the effect now show up continously? It's important to know if it's just the night shading issue or if both changes in the
effect files didn't have any effect.

Lars

What problem do you have at day as well? The shading shouldn't be a problem then or do you mean
that the effect doesn't appear continuously?

Another guess would be that PrecipitFX may change some core effect files but I'm not sure about that.
Could you zip and upload your effects folder for me so I can have a look at the files?
Best regards,
Lars

Rich, I've checked in Prepar3D v2 as well with the new files and for me the effect is shaded
properly at nighttime, meaning it is not lit as if it was daytime.

Does the effect now show up constantly for you after 2-3 minutes? You can speed up the simulation rate to 4x
which makes it faster to check.

I'm still supposing that the effect file has not been replaced. Did you start your flight at daytime and then switched to
nighttime or did you start at nighttime?
Best regards,
Lars

Hi Rich,

are you sure that you replaced both files in the Effects folder?
The archive contains one folder with two files and both need to be replaced
so the effect shows continuously and shaded at night.
But I will check in P3Dv2 as well and let you know!

Lars

That is odd since I added an additional parameter to the effect file - maybe it behaves different in Prepar3D, let me check tonight
and I will get back to you asap.

Still an issue but maybe you could blend out the hard edges of the texture - it seems better but at altitude anytime of day I get this - no biggie on the ground its cool

Hi Rich,

I have a new file for you - it will fix the night shading issue and the effect will now appear after 2-3 minutes and will stay visible afterwards.

Please note that at some point in the future there will be an update for Twentynine Palms available via the Updater which will fix the night shading issue for the other customers as well. You can download the update then but replace the file with the one attached so the effect stays visible for you all the time.

For installation simply drop the Effects folder into your Prepar3D main directory and overwrite the file when prompted.

Let me know if you need assistance!
Best regards,
Lars
