It's a very old thread, but today after upgrading my Prepar3D v4.5 HF1 to v4.5 HF2 and re-installing (or re-applying) some Orbx texture and products, I faces the same double taxisigns. It was solved by renaming/desactivating \ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_NA_SCA05_SCENERY\scenery\ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP.bgl (to .OFF for example).

For those who don't have an account at ORBX, here is what you have to do in order to
make KTNP compatible with FTX SCA:

Quote:

In order to achieve compatibility with SCA, some SCA files need to be deactivated:

DEACTIVATE: (by renaming from .bgl to .bgl.off)

>>> in \ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_NA_SCA05_SCENERY\scenery

ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP.bgl.OFF
ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP_CVX.bgl.OFF
FTX_SCA_objects_KTNP_PLC.bgl.OFF

>>> in \Scenery\World\Scenery
ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP_elevation_adjustment.BGL.OFF

Lars

Did you install the patch and follow the instructions given by Holger over at ORBX?
That should definately fix the problem.
For the next version of the Configurator I'm planning to include a SCA compatibility
option where no manual renaming will be necessary anymore.
Best regards,
Lars

Hi Rob,
As I don' t have FTX SCA installed it is pretty difficult for me to help you. But I think there might be a way to circumnavigate your issue.

Please take a look into your FSX folder. That' s how the path looks for the ORBX folder in my FS_X root folder:

 C:\FS_X\ORBX\FTX_EU\FTX_EU_ENG_05_SCENERY\scenery

I am sure that within that folder you will be able to spot a folder called 'FTX_SCA_SCENERY' or similar.

If you doubleclick on that folder you will very likely find two folders again. One called 'scenery' and the second 'texture'.

Doubleclick on the folder called 'scenery'. Now you will see pairs of bgl-files, called
'ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP.bgl' and
'ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP_CVX.bgl' or similar.

If you will spot a pair of bgl-files which is named as it reads above (make sure it reads 'KTNP' and nothing else!), you will only have to change the ending section to .bgx

Your result will look like that:

'ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP.bgx' and
'ADE_FTX_SCA_KTNP_CVX.bgx'

Important! Please follow these steps carefully and only make the changes if you feel safe and secure. And before you do so please make a backup copy of the entire ORBX folder! Please be advised that you do the changes at your own risk!

With changing the ending section from .bgl to .bgx you simply deactivate these two files. You can reactivate them any time again if you wish by changing the ending section back to .bgl

Good luck!
Regards from Bavaria,

hf

Hi Rob, I know that these comments contradict one another but it seems like there are objects placed at KTNP which can't be suppressed by
normal excludes - I have to investigate this when I'm back in office and see if there's any way to exclude these objects without
having to rename files.
A quick and safe fix would be to rename the files as suggested by Holger. I'll get back to you asap!
Best regards,
Lars

Hi Lars, thanks for getting back to me so fast.

I have nothing else installed except for the aforementioned addons (see first post).
I'm familiar with Holger' s thread at the OrbX forum. I know I can deactivate the mentioned FTX files. However you said in that same thread.

Quote:
following up on Holger's post, we have released a patch for an even better compatibility between the two sceneries including color matching.

The patch includes a color matched photoscenery and excludes which suppress airport buildings, elevation adjustments and airport layout files which come by default with FTX SCA. So when you install the patch you don't need to deactivate the files as described by Holger. Just make sure that KTNP is above SCA in the scenery library.

This is because the flight simulator loads sceneries with a higher priority last - otherwise the SCA files would "win" over the excludes.

So that remark made me a little hesitant. I did install the FTX SCA compatibility patch and KTNP is at the top of my scenery library (highest priority).  So what's going on here or should I just deactivate manually?

Thanks
Rob

You can also try what has been suggested by Holger in this thread:

Hi Rob,

this is most likely another add-on which includes an airport layout file or which places objects like this.
Most common add-on to cause this is MyTraffic - do you have that installed or something similar?
Are there other sceneries above Twentynine Palms in your scenery library?
Best regards,
Lars

Hello,

After installing KTNP v1.12 with FTX/OrbX SCA in both FSX and P3D I notice double rwy and twy signs. See screenshot. I also installed the compatibility patch for FTX/OrbX SCA but still double signs.
Furthermore FTX Global Base and Vector installed. FTXCentral2 switched to North America.

Thanks very much for any advice,
Rob de Vries
