LOL [biggrin] - glad to hear that!

Must say for an (old) CPL pilot like myself with the highest rating on a King200 it was even a challenge to get this turbine beast down on the threshold in FSX and that with absolutely minimum speed and a 8 knts crosswind. But what a BIG grin when you do manage to get it right.

Thank you for your great scenery!

Very nice, glad to hear that you were able to fix it! [smile]
The approach was the main reason why we have decided to take Samos on as a project!
I must say that I have flown the approach several times in the sim and with a realistic wind component
I also had some missed approaches. Between us, our video producer also had problems nailing that final
approach until he had a scene ready which could be used in the product video [wink]

Good morning -

I've just gone through the whole checklist from top to bottom:
  1. Run VECTOR in FTX Central to pick up all new scenery installed
  2. Run EFB Scenery Data Update - (this reads all scenery installed and look for the AFCAD file to represent the correct runways, nav aids, taxiways and parking positions)
  3. Run EFB Display Unit and Clear Cache
It still shows the Runway Surface as 'unknown' but that doesn't matter as long as the taxiways and parking positions are correct. It seems fixed now because [thumb] I could see the taxiways in EFB Display Unit exactly where I turned off the runway and the parking positions lined up perfectly.

Boy-oh-boy but it really, really is a difficult approach when you do it with an Airbus or Boeing. I've done a few Missed Approaches already and you really have to kick that rudder as hard as possible.
GREAT fun and very realistic.

Thanks for clearing that up Terblanche!
The runway is "unknown" so it will become invisible in the simulator which is great for us design-wise.
As far as I know many developers use this technique though and to be honest I wasn't aware of any third party
plug-in which reads our AFCAD file as of now [wink]
The runway could be fixed, I would have to test that - but what about the taxiways? Could you post a screenshot of
the problem? The taxiways and parkings are all there but not the actual width so they become invisible as well.
Best regards,
Lars

Thank you Lars -
for you quick response and detail on trying to solve this ...

However, all the rules (of engagement) [smile] have been followed.
  • All airport *.bgl files in MyTraffic have been switched OFF
  • No duplicate AFCAD files exists according to SimpleAirportScanner - as a matter of fact if I open the AFCAD files with this program, it pretty much shows what EFB is showing.
  • Speaking of which, the first thing I do when I install new scenery is to run the Scenery Data Update and Rebuild the Cache
  • ORBX Vector is set to exclude LGSM - the problem is not allevation or mesh, the problem is the actual AFCAD where the runway surface is unknown and the taxiways on the AFCAD is not what is on the screen on the airport
But I will check again tomorrow and report back.
Thank you once again
Terblanche

Hi Terblanche, I'm glad that you like the scenery! [smile]
I have to check if EFB includes own airport layout files or whether it loads files of Add-On sceneries.

Most often, especially with display / mesh issues, AFCAD files of traffic Add-Ons like Ultimate Traffic and MyTraffic
or ORBX Vector cause the problems. So you can definitely verify that you don't have those Add-Ons installed or if installed,
the AFCAD file for LGSM is deactivated?

I just found a thread on AivlaSoft which describes the integration of Add-On sceneries and it points out that it is needed
to rebuild the scenery cache in the EFB software - did you do try that?
http://aivlasoft.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/2147-what-i-have-learned-about-adding-runways-and-scenery/

Since I don't own the EFB, maybe your question would be a better fit on the AivlaSoft support forums since our AFCAD definitely
has been designed based on real world charts, correct positioning of parkings, aprons and runways based on satellite imagery and
real world coordinates.
Best regards,
Lars

Thank you 29Palms for yet another great scenery.

There is something 'wrong' with the AFCAD because the one that EFB reads and how it displays within the sim are not the same?

I've checked and there is definitely not a conflict with any other AFCAD.

Something else I could check?
