Hi Rob,

I have just released the update for Samos which you can download via the Scenery Configurator,
including revised vegetation and color matching. Let me know if that improves the situation for you!
Best regards,
Lars

Sorry Rob, it might take some more time since I'm now also replacing Broadleaf trees with Conifers [smile]
Furthermore there will also be an update including the adjusted photoscenery for default textures,
adjusted groundpoly textures and several more fixes.
Best regards,
Lars

Oh I had hoped for that! [tongue]
I'm currently working on an even better color match which will
also alter the airport ground textures with the upcoming first update.
I will upload the FTXG patch this evening so you can have another look - thanks Rob! [smile]
Best regards,
Lars

Let me know if I can do anything to help you out, apart from buying you the equivalent of a car...[tongue]

Hi Rob,

thanks for your feedback - I don't mind constructive criticism at all! [wink]
To be honest this is the part of the scenery which is really bugging me:
Due to the immensive cost of satellite imagery especially for Samos (western Aegan islands are a different topic),
it wasn't economically reasonable to include the whole island for the price of a new car.
With your latest screenshot I think the situation improved and I will look into different tree models which are a better
fit for the PR part of the scenery. And maybe even remove more red / yellow tones from the PR. [smile]
Best regards,
Lars

Hi Lars,

Thanks for the rapid response and solution. I think it's an improvement but still not perfect if you don't mind me saying it. My shaders where not changed in response to your question, but in my original post I was lazy and copied screenshots from another user with the same issues. From here.

The pic below is again mine [smile] after applying the latest FTX Global patch. I think it can be improved in the trees department. Or, but that might be asking to much, apply photo scenery to the whole island.   color.jpg
This effect is not in accord with the standards of the quality of the rest of your products. Please don't misunderstand me Lars. I'm a real fan of 29P so I want it to be the best...[thumb]

Hi Rob,

thanks for the detailed information! The screenshot looks much better - did you change your shader settings or
is it just the perspective or time of day? I can see the mismatch in color though and that's definitely something that
can be fixed. I'll be compiling a new photoscenery and vegetation textures today which you can then download as the
FTX Global expansion patch, like you did before.
I'll post here as soon as I have it ready for download.

Best regards,
Lars

Hi Lars,

So it's not much different from your development screenshot. Especially the face/flanks of the mountain (Ámpelos/Karvounis) on centre of the island is distinctly different colorwise from FTX Global. When you look at the close up screenshot not only color tone varies. The 29P color tone has more yellows and saturation (on my monitor) and you'll notice some landclass issues as well because FTX Global with OpenLC EUR depicts coniferous trees and 29P depict mostly broadleaf trees. That also account for a intensified color tone difference.

In reality Samos has mostly cypresses, pine trees and olive trees. So I think IMHO that the 29P rendition should ideally somehow be adapted, because the FTX rendition seems closer to reality.

Hi Rob, thanks for your purchase! [smile]
That is definitely not how it's supposed to look - overly saturated and with a red / orange tint...
See this screenshot for reference, also made in P3D3 with FTX Global installed:

2926926.jpg

This is a screenshot from an earlier development stage, and things should have improved even more since then.
A color match can never be perfect to default textures though since those textures are "tileable" and therefore represent
a very flat contrast whereas satellite imagery has a lot of detail and no repeating textures which makes color matching quite challenging -
the more you change the colors, the more detail you lose.

So the first question is: Are you using a shader tweak like the RealismShaderPack?
And if not, which settings have you set in the lighting tab of P3D?
Is this P3D v3.3 or v3.2?
Best regards,
Lars

Hi there,

Just bought your Samos. The limits of the scenery are quite visible and the FTX Global compatibility patch, which claims to change the colors of the photo image to match the Global textures, did not help very much. See screenshot's.

I hope this will be fixed becauae it's too much difference and you guy's did a stunning job with 29Palms and FTX SCA/Global.

Thanks very much!
Rob
