Hi Gerard,

I can't thank you enough for investigating this in such great detail!
And I'm glad that it's finally working for you. Unfortunately the logic behind this isn't documented in the P3D SDK
but I will make sure to continue this discussion over at the developer forums and I will provide a
function/tool which can automatically set the priority of Skiathos in the library, that way the customers don't
have to edit cfg files on their own.

Take care and best regards,
Lars

Hi Lars,

Thanks for the advises.

I have Skiathos working now..
And it wasn’t Orbx causing it but the order in the Addons.cfg file.

I took all Addons out of the Docs/P3Dv5 folder and only left Skiathos + Libraries and FSUIPC in there.

Immediately all AG appeared.
I then put back all other Addons back incl FranceVFR and also then Skiathos had AG.

Only FranceVFR has extra Autogen folders.
To be sure again I took all Addons out of the Docs\P3Dv5 folder but this time I left all FranceVFR Addons.
I reloaded and shut down P3Dv5.
Then I added Skiathos and guess what .. no AG.

After that I first added Skiathos and after a reload/shutdown I added all other Addons. Skiathos remained with AG.

My conclusion : in P3Dv5 the order in the addons.cfg file is important.
I do not know exactly but it seems that larger scenery overrule smaller scenery if the larger scenery is higher in the order.
If a small scenery is higher in the order it does not overrrule the larger scenery...

Hi Gerard,

the native support is basically correct, but unfortunately it's buggy. I have received many support requests without working autogen
where we have tried via the autogen-tag in the add-on.xml without the ACM...and it wasn't working although the customers had P3D v4.5+ installed
Arno confirmed on FSD that the default autogen merging is buggy and has released a version for P3D5.
My initial tests were working fine for P3D5, also with add-on scenery and ACM wasn't compatible with v5 at that time anyway. Therefore
we have released the scenery as v5 compatible, which many customers confirmed since autogen is working for them.
So the bug seems to be still there in v5 where autogen merging is not working out of the box under certain circumstances. Most likely due to the
add-on combination or maybe because some add-on has a syntax error in their autogen files and therefore merging fails - I don't know

What I would try is to 1st:
De-activate all other add-ons and check whether autogen appears at Skiathos

2. Install the beta version of the ACM merger for Prepar3D v5:
https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/attachments/autogenconfigurationmerger-zip.56760/

You can install the ACM manually by registering it to autostart alongside the simulator via the add-on.xml method
If you have some technical knowledge, the included developer pdf shows how to automatically install the tool
or let me know and I'm happy to assist!

This will however merge the autogen of Skiathos into the default autogen of the simulator. If there is still a bug and some add-on "up the tree" overwrites the default autogen, it will still not show.
The problem with Skiathos and this bug is priorities. Since the folder which contains the add-on.xml starts with "29Palms" all sceneries below it will have a higher priority.
When you open the add-on.xml you can also manually edit the Layer number to be a higher value or try to increase its priority in the Add-On library inside the simulator.

Sorry for the inconvenience...I wish this wouldn't be such a hassle for a few customers since the solution always differs slightly and the underlying problem
is the bug in the autogen system of P3D

Best regards,
Lars

Regarding Arno's ACM :

Quote from Arno :
Starting from Prepar3D v4.4 there is native support for merging autogen configuration
files in the simulator. So if you develop your addon for Prepar3D v4.4 or above you do not
need to use Autogen Configuration Merger.

Therefore Arno is not making a newer version anymore.

I have posted my issue on the Orbx Central forum and am waiting for a reply.
Knowing Orbx they often point to the other developer.

And as my FranceVFR scenery + extra Autogen folder is working correctly, you might check it too.
It isn't for sure that Orbx is causing this.
I remember Aersoft had issues with a scenery several years ago and it appeared to be that it was caused by Windows versions that had another language than English or German.

The idea is that it will work correctly ; I just bought it and have issues.
If I had bought it for V4 and had used it already for some time without issues and then tried it in V5 and had some issues, then I had to wait till it had been solved.

I bought it as the product says : V5 compatible.

Best regards, Gerard

Hi Lars,

Thanks for answering.

I have Central 4.0.16 the latest version. What I do not understand is that I got FranceVFR to work by using the AGX package and put those files in Autogen files next to their Scenery and Texture folders.

So Skiathos should use its custom default.xml and definition files in combination with the default Autogen folder.
Like I wrote nothing has changed in there : there are only default files.

So if FranceVFR is working with custom definition files and Orbx what is different with Skiathos ?

I have read at Avsim that others using Orbx inside P3Dv5 have Skiathos working...

And I have installed Skiathos also in P3Dv4 the XML way without Arno’s merger and with all Orbx and it is working with a custom Autogen folder. AG all over the place.

Skiathos is too beautiful to not see AG.

regards,
Gerard

Hi Gerard,

as discussed via e-mail this is mostly due to ORBX replacing all of the autogen below their priority.
They are working on an update which should be released shortly.
Just to be sure, we will also include ACM in the installer again, as soon as it's officially compatible with
Prepar3D v5.
The update for ORBX is currently available through their "Fastlane" program in ORBX Central, but it's not guaranteed to work
or be bugfree since it's their beta program.
Best regards,
Lars

Inorder to not let several Skiathos AG topics mix with eachother here a new one.

Saturday I have installed P3Dv5.
Then I let Orbx Central download and update all products the XML way and installed it in a Library outside P3Dv5. Also FTX Global has been installed outside the main root.

In P3Dv4 I had almost evcerything installed outside P3Dv4.

I copied the FranceVFR XML folders from V4 to V5.By copying the latest AGM set into the Autogen folders from the FranceVFR packages and in P3Dv5 they all worked and showed AG.

After that I bought and installed Skiathos. Arno's AM tool was not installed. I added and modified  both Libaries and Skiathos the XML way :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">

Unfortunately I have no AG at Skiathos. I have the airport, people moving , Birds flying, sound. But no AG.
So I have tried with disableing everything form ORBx but no difference.
I put back the Original Terrain.cfg file and reimstalled Skiathos : no difference.
Also I have tried the AGM set in the Skiathos Autogen folder but nothing.
I have un-and reinstalled Skiathos 2 times now.

See the screenshots on how it looks
Help is appriciated. I sent a Support email through the Configurator but could not attach screenshots.

Regards, Gerard
